WOOSTER, Ohio (August 14, 2019) – Tod Carmony, President and CEO of Wayne Insurance Group, announced today that he will retire January 1, 2020 and that the Wayne Insurance Group Board of Directors has selected Timothy Suppes to be the new President and CEO upon Carmony’s retirement.  Mr. Suppes is currently serving as Vice President of Underwriting/Operations for the Group.  Vice Chairman Greg Buehler stated that, following Carmony’s decision last year to retire in 2020, the Board commenced their succession planning process to select a new president.

Mr. Carmony has been with Wayne Insurance Group since 1978 and served in various positions until he was appointed President in 1996 replacing the retiring Ralph Gresser.  Under Carmony’s leadership the company’s premiums have quadrupled in size and its surplus has increased by seven times.  After retirement, Carmony will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board.  “Tod has overseen significant change and positive growth and the Board appreciates his superb leadership and the fine corporate culture that he has built here at Wayne,” Vice Chairman Greg Buehler commented.

Mr. Suppes joined Wayne Insurance Group in 2000 after serving in information technology positions at Westfield Group and Western Reserve Group.  “Tim is an outstanding leader, who understands the demands of modern-day insurance practice.  He has continually accepted increasing responsibilities here at Wayne culminating in leading a highly successful multiyear conversion and update of all company systems while overseeing ten percent yearly growth over the last eight years.  He is well respected by our agency partners and other stakeholders and we look forward to many more successful years under his leadership,” said Carmony.

Mr. Suppes received his Associate Degree in Applied Arts in Computer Programming from Stark State College and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Malone College.  He resides in Apple Creek with his wife LuAnn and is an active member of his church where he serves on various committees and is a board member for Southeast Local Schools.
